Jewelry Care

Gold Filled / Gold Plated Jewelry

Gold filled jewelry is composed of a layer of gold pressure bonded to another metal. It is a quality alternative for solid gold and it has more gold than gold plated jewelry.

Gold plated jewelry is composed of a thin layer of gold over a base metal. It requires more care than gold filled jewelry.

To preserve the gold color on your jewelry as long as possible,

  • Keep jewelry clean and dry.
  • Wait until your perfume, lotion, or cream is dry before wearing the jewelry.
  • Remove jewelry before showering, swimming, exercise, etc. The chemicals will react with the color of the jewelry and will cause the jewelry to tarnish quickly.
  • Gently clean jewelry with a soft cloth or cotton ball. (DO NOT clean with water. DO NOT dry with paper towel.)
  • Place the jewelry in a cotton/velvet pouch or jewelry box to avoid scratches, tarnishing, chipping, knots in chains and breakage.
